The yearbook thread go me thinking. I was surprised that some people don't buy yearbooks in elementary school. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't, don't get me wrong. To each his own in my opinion. I was just wondering, do you feel the same way about school pictures. Do you purchase a picture packet from school. I know someone with 3 kids that doesn't buy a pack for each kid every year due to money issues. To me the pictures are very important even if you buy the smallest pack. What's your opinion?

I try to always get the pictures, but only the smallest package. School pictures are VERY expensive here.

I used to take them somewhere else cheaper and have the pictures done, but it is just too much of a hassle, so yes I buy them.

Same here. And they don't always come out that great either.

I buy the inexpensive package and the class picture. That is all the "yearbook" he wants in the first grade.

I buy the school picture pack mostly because I don't want DD to feel left out when they get distributed.

This year I volunteered to help the photographers so they were going to give me DD's package free. Since I had already paid for the package I wanted, that was no big deal. However, the photographer was so taken with DD he made a point to take really NICE pictures of her. All in all, I was really impressed with the photographer anyway. From what I could see he did a really nice job on all the kids.

So, this year we were lucky and DD's pictures turned out very nice. I know it won't always be that way but that's one of the joys of childhood.

I forgot about that, I have volunteered to help with the pictures in the past also and I got free picture packets nicer than the ones I was going to buy. Not bad for a couple of hours work

The school pictures where we have lived have always been reasonably priced so we usually do get a package. Also because I am not the greatest about getting the kids in to have them done someplace else. I think last year I got 1-8x10, 2 -5x7's, 4-3x5's, 8 wallet and a class picture for $15.00.

See, $15 is what they SHOULD be! I worked for a photography studio years ago and saw the markup.
