Homemade butter

carton of heavy whipping cream (left out to reach room temp. approx. 8 hrs)
jar with a tight lid ( old mayo jar works well)

Pour the cream into the jar and take turns shaking, first you'll see little clumps form, then a ball.( then it's done) Won't take too long since it is at room temp.Drain the buttermilk out. ( can use later in recipes) To keep longer rinse the butter and using a wooden spoon press the water out against the bowl. Add a little salt if you like!! And spread on crackers or bread.
