The justice system has been a little to hard on kids lately. Keep in mind this is the same system in which a teen male who is one to two years older or heck even 1 month older than his teen girl friend but still under 18 can be thrown in jail or labeled as a sex offender for life for having consensual sex or a other sex act with his girlfriend. If they followed through with this stuff when I was a teen I would have been labeled as one for relations with my boyfriend who was 1 year younger than me!
I understand severe consequences for murder and other violent acts but they really need to treat teens and kids as the children they are and not adults. The correct consequence for the girl should have been a logical one...clean her desk and possibly stay after school one day and help a janitor wipe clean the tops of a classroom of desks.
