For those of you who have military family members, please introduce yourselves here and tell us a little about yourself.
I will start!
I'm Christy
I am a PROUD navy spouse. Dh has been in the navy for 13 years this fall. He enlisted out of high school and served as an ET (Electronics Technician) then was picked up for a Commissioning Program.
We have lived all over the world, starting in Augusta, GA; Manama, Bahrain (middle east); Naples, Italy; Newport, RI; State College, PA (Penn State ROTC); Pensacola, FL; Enid, OK; and now OKC, OK.
Until meeting and then marrying DH I have had zero exposure to the military life. It's not as common to have someone in your family serve in the military as it is down here. Down in the U.S you know someone who has served or someone in your family is serving. It's incredible. I have gained a true respect for our military families and servicemen. I am proud to be amongst this group of patriots! (even being Canadian!)
.....next!

Well, my affilitation with the military is not really current, but I grew up in an Air Force family. My dad joined the Air Force out of high school and served for 33 years. He retired as Chief Master Sargent (the highest he could go). I was already married with children when he retired, so my entire childhood was spent in the military environment. I lived in Bossier City, LA: London, England: Laradeo, TX: Suitland, MD: Montgomery, AL: Panama Canal Zone: Bellevue, NE: Honolulu, HI and Colorado Springs, CO. After I left home my parents were also stationed in Germany and DC before retireing to Austin TX then moving to Central FL.
I have very good memories of growing up military!!!

Wow. I knew he served but I didn't realize how long. That is very commendable. Thank you for sharing Sheryl.
Out of all your travels, which base do you remember and enjoyed the most?

Hickam AFB HI!!! Of course that was probably because that is where I went to high school and I loved high school. I also remember really liking it at Albrook AFS in the Canal Zone. Maybe I am meant to be a warm weather person?

Hello! I'm Jennifer. My Husband is Lcpl in the Marine Corps. He joined right after his High school graduation. We were high school sweet hearts we just got married this past Aug. He left 3 weeks later for Iraq & will be returning within the next week to Hawaii where he is stationed. I'll be moving with him in May. This is our first duty station...& my first dealings with the military life style. I have had family members who have served, but this is the first that has actually influenced me..in the BIGGEST way! I'm looking forward to our experience in Hawaii together---finally! Nice to meet you all by the way!

Hi!
I'm Vicki. My husband also joined right after high school, in a way. He went to the Air Force Academy for college, which is where I met him. We got married the day after graduation, then moved to Florida (Hurlburt Field/Eglin AFB area), then Vance for pilot training and finally here--Travis AFB where he flies KC-10's. We've lived here almost 2 years now.
He is currently deployed. He's been gone almost 3 weeks, but won't be gone too long. He'll be back mid May-June-ish.
I didn't have much exposure to military life prior to meeting my husband.

Hi,
My name is Sheryll. My husband is a master sargeant in the Air Force. He joined right after high school, so he's been in for about 12 1/2 years now. He's so close to retiring. I met him in Hawaii, where I originally am from. This is his 2nd tour back in the states. He was fortunate enough to start at Japan, Geremany and the likes. He would like to do another Europe tour, but we're still contemplating. We are now stationed in VA.
My whole life has always been the military. You could say I grew up a military brat. My dad was in the Army, my stepdad is retired from the Navy and my baby brother is currently in the Army as well. It's nice meeting everyone here!
Cheers,
Sheryll

I grew up with an Air Force dad. My dh was in the Air Force for four years, also. My brother and my brother in law are both in the Army. Kevin, my brother, is currently at Camp Victory, Iraq...and my bil will be going to Iraq in November, too.

I was married for 16 yrs to my first husband, he was in the AF. We adopted my brother (long sad story) when he was 8, we have a daughter and a son. Their ages now are 31, 21, and 17.
I enjoyed the yrs we spent living on base, it's the only thing I miss about being married to him

Well I met my husband after he graduated from college and moved to Ca. He moved in next door to my mom. After we were married he lost his civilian job and could not find another.
So we began the journey of commissioning into the Air Force. He was commissioned Nov 99 and we moved to Edwards AFB, CA in the Mojave Desert! We then transferred/PCSed to Wright Patterson Oh, Steven is currently deployed to Iraq.
We are awaiting orders and this fall he will go up for the Major's board. He is a mechanical engineer by trade and has been a project manager and a air to air intergrations engineer, and of course now his USAF CSI job in Iraq. He loves the military life and has grown so much since joining.
We have almost been in 8 years, he plans on doing 20+. I am just along for the ride He is the love of my life and I am very proud of who he is and what wearing the uniform means.
I was a military brat growing up. My father and ex-step father were both Navy. My ex-husband was a marine and he was stationed at Moffet Field Ca and Camp Pendleton Ca. We lived in Oceanside for a few years. The only thing I miss out of that relationship is living near the beach. My ex-boyfriends were either marines or sailors. Steven was my first civilian boyfriend cause I was so tired of the military.....
So all my life I have been in the military life. I do like it. I miss having friends and such around. But I deal with it just like we all do!
