Hi. I am new to the forums/board, but this section really caught my eye. I am prior Army & my husband, as of 11:59pm tommorow is prior Army.

My husband left for northwest Baghdad when our son was 2 wks old & returned when he was 13 months.

If anyone needs a shoulder, I can be a virtual one

While we may not be in uniform anymore, I will never forget until they are all home.

Welcome! We value your experienced input!

Where have you been stationed? Which post did you like the best?

I am originally from the Thousand Islands region in Canada, which is about thirty minutes from Fort Drum, NY....have you ever been there?

Once a military family always a military family! It doesn't just go with Marines!

FT Jackson, NC; FT Lee, VA; FT Knox, KY, FT Benning, GA, Korea (about 15 miles north of Seoul); FT Hood, TX.

Korea, BY FAR, was the best experience. Just a cool place to live & see a different culture. I was able to travel to China & Australia while there. Missed the States a lot, but so glad the opportunity was taken.

As stateside goes, we liked FT Benning, GA.

FT Hood was tough...everything about it. Has taken a lot of OIF casualites & my dh's company lost 4 men themselves & several injuries. Too many phone calls from FRG w/ the news no one wants. We were w/ 4ID & they got back in Dec 06. They already have deployment orders for the late summer That is where we just left from. My heart goes out to those strong, strong families who have to endure NW BAghdad again & now for 15 months instead of 12.

And yes, I've seen FT Drum on my way to Gananaque (wrong spelling...sorry!), Canada. FT Drum is out there. I thought Hood was desolate, but Drum may have it beat

We are always going to be a military family at heart.
