#1 - Children in single-parent homes can help around the house with chores or help with younger siblings, which will help them mature much faster that children who live in a two-parent home.

#2 - Children can learn to be more independent and accept responsibility for their actions.

#3 - They also can learn that life is not fair and to make the best of the situation.

(inspired by an artical found on singleparent lifeips .com)

While I think that all of that is true, it is also true of kids in a 2 parent home.

As others have stated, these things *are* true--and they can be found in *any* child's home life.

I guess one thing I can add is that I think my children are starting to realize (although it won't be fully realized until they're probably adults) the number of things I do on a daily basis for them and for our family, from working to taking them to activities to shopping to paying bills to cleaning house to...well, you get the picture. In some ways, children of single parents have a direct example before them of what it takes to be a good parent, educator, home-runner, employee, son or daughter, team mom, etc. While two-parent homes can also have this, the role of a single parent oftentimes is a combination of the work of both parents in a two-parent home.
