I am starting "kindegarten" with my dd this fall. Just wondered if anybody had been to one and if it is worth the trouble. Some people say you can get some great buys on books and supplies but others say things are much cheaper online. I have gotten all of our preschool stuff online for free or very cheap.

We went to our state convention when we were first starting 6 years ago. I found it very overwhelming. There was just so much stuff! Now, that I know more, I would probably get more out of it, but I haven't really felt the need to attend. I, too, feel like I can get what I need for bargain prices (or free) right here at home or online.

I have been going to them for 3 years now. The first two were in TX and this last one in VA. I have only gone to the used curriculum sale part, not the classes/seminars. If it's close to you I would go. It's a great way to interact and meet other homeschooling families. I LOVE the curriculum sales, but make a budget and get it in cash! I always spend more than I tell myself I'm going to. I love books and can never have enough! It's also good that you can look through the material and see if you like it, where when you buy online you might never have seen it before. most curriculum suppliers are there to demonstrate their products so that's nice.
