I can't believe my oldest is going to "big school" in a few weeks. I don't know wether to cry or throw a party. He is very excited and should do well as he loves structure and "work" like sheets and busy work. I feel a little guilty for being glad that he will be gone for more than a couple of hours on week days, but part of me misses my sweet little boy and is mourning the loss of my little guy to being a schoolager. Wow, talk about mixed feelings. Does anyone else feel like I do?

My oldest will be in 4th grade but it seems like yesterday he was starting Kindergarten. Yes I really did have mixed feelings. I remember them well.

His little sister and I walked him over to school and I remember telling myself I wasn't going to cry. I did fine until it was time for us to leave his little sister ran to him, gave him a big hug crying, and said "I'll miss you Jacob". I then started crying too.

My oldest starts Monday! I am so excited for her. I'm also looking forward to the break and I do feel guilty about it. But she went to headstart last year and she is ready for big school she was probably ready last yr but her bday is in late Sept. It will be great for her. :D

I remember the day well. I wasn't going to cry either. I mean why would I cry - I'll welcome the break, right? I did fine until I got to the "tea and tissues" the PTA put on for the parents of kindergartners after you dropped off your child for the 1st day at school. Then for some reason I just boo-hooed and couldn't figure it out. Then I realized that it was a little bit like a mourning in a way - my babies were growing up and that part of their lives were over.

Now they are in 3rd grade and I'm like can't I drop you off any earlier?!?:D Just kidding!

oh yes, I felt the same way. I've been through it twice now. I held back tears until they were out of sight. I didn't want them to think going to school was a bad or sad thing. of course I also cry on the last day of school. and not b/c it's over and I will have them ALL summer long. ok it not just that. JK-maybe.

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time

MY DD starts KG in a few weeks. But, she's been in DC since she was 10 weeks old. Not sure that it's affecting me all THAT much yet, as she's quite used to being somewhere every day already. But, she will have to change her routines a bit & meet new kids & such. My DS has a late Dec b-day, so he won't be going to KG for 2 years. Hmmmm, I wonder if I'll fall apart that day anyway? I'll have to wait & see. GL to all of us! LOL!

My oldest is starting KG this year too!! We can't wait! He is so excited! I will find out on Tuesday if he will be in all day( I hope so). He can't wait to pack his backpack!!! School starts on Aug. 18. I'll let you know if I cry!

My little guy is at Kindergarden right now! It is his 2nd full day... here they do a phase in for the first 2 weeks to get the kids adjusting and to do testing to see where the kids are at. Man when I took him last week when I left I felt sick to my stomach. My big-boy is ina big school. A real school! However I did not cry, which I was suprised. I have 2 other children and the dynamics are so diferent when one is gone. :-)

Carson starts next Wednesday and I'm definitely sad! I want to keep him in my bubble, ya know? It's safe here. I realize that I [i]can't[i] do that, but I would really like it. Heavy sigh.

He's excited. We have a count-down going until his first day. I'm happy for him that he is excited, and I'm proud of myself for raising a self-confident strong-learner. I'm sad because he is growing up so fast and now there will be so many other influences on him (peers) that may not be what I would like for him.

I will survive, though.

I know how you feel my daughter is 6 and will be going into the 1st grade in September I am going to miss her bigtime but she will get to see her friends and make more I am happy for her.
