pick one stupid thing and become obsessed with it??

My ex for whatever reason...(after the divorce)....picked brushing their teeth and became obsessed with it....

not that brushing your teeth is stupid....BUT

he will call them here to make sure that they brushed their teeth...(like I don't know to tell them to do that, and not everyday but often)....when he picks them up he will ask them how many times they brushed their teeth all week...( I must not be doing my job)

And my ds just told me the other day that his Dad MAKES them brush their teeth before and after EVERY meal.

What??

Ok, I thought two times a day (morning and night), or three (after every meal) was sufficient.

Am I missing something here???

Maybe I am wrong....but isn't there such thing as too much???

Just wierd....or I am a bad mom for not making them brush their teeth more.

oh yes there is reasons not to brush so much....i have thin gum tissue and over the years i use to brush four or five times a day...well i started "brushing" my gum tissue away....i had to have some tissue grafting done because of my fallen gums and the constant brushing didnt make the matters any better. it wasnt a painful surgery but it was not something i want to do all the time...since then, i have cut to two to three times a day.

Well, gotta say that if my ex obsessed over that, I'd be really surprised since he didn't brush his teeth and they rotted so now he has false teeth.. I am sure he wouldn't obsess over that! hahaha

He does, however, (used to anyway, which would totally make my blood boil!!) do things like give them baths before he brings them home, or feed them before they came home, because he knew he would tick me off, for one, for another, he was trying to show off to people... {rolling my eyes}

I think brushing your teeth too much is a bad thing.. My dentist says even if you do it right before bedtime is ok.. but 2-3 times a day is best.

My ex was a freak about cleaning his ears out. He would use a qtip as deep as he could possibly get it (until it hurt) several times a day. He ended up disturbing the healthy bacteria and it caused a severe case of vertigo (dizziness) he couldnt stand up or walk, he laid in bed whining and wretching from the motion sickness. This happened 3 times in a year - he still does it!
