I am really struggling today. We received official word just before the media began airing stories about the attacks in and around Baghdad. A major offensive began last night and the Baqouba operation is being led by the Third Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Second Infantry Division (my son's Brigade), with support from units from two other brigades. The American troops are either directly involved in the assault or in supporting efforts on the flanks, along with combat aircraft and artillery.

I'm worried sick. He left a message Sunday night for Father's Day (we missed his call because we were out for a walk). He said that we probably wouldn't hear from him for awhile.

Asking for prayers for their safety in the next days and weeks of this offensive.

Just have faith in the fact that they are trained and prepared! That is the only thing that kept me going when my husband was doing his 3 tours there. I am so sorry that you missed his call........i know how bad that feels!!!

It's hard to stay away from the news. We talked to him several times last week and knew something big was coming but now that it is a reality, the worry just doubles. He said not to expect to hear from him for awhile so until then we just watch the news, pray and wait...
