If you know of someone overseas that has asked for specific items to be sent over in care packages, please post those items here.
Those of us who are willing to show our support, can pick and choose from the lists posted, the items we can send over in support of what they are doing (and enduring).
Ladies, it takes but a second to fill a box and show our men and women overseas we hear them and we care about them. We may not be able to buy them armored vehicles to keep them safe, but we can give them a taste of home and the necessities from home they can't otherwise get!
I have sent over a couple boxes myself and what is awesome is you can get those priority flat rate boxes for $8.10 and stuff it full. It's worth it
If you know someone serving overseas, please add your name to THIS LIST so we know where to send the packages.
So if you do have some things you know our men and women need, post them here. The rest of us will take head to this and do what we can to show our support!

These are the things that I send to our family/friends over there right now that they have claimed they really like (I hope so b/c I'm sending similar stuff out again this week). All seem to be on your list, but these are what I've gotten feedback on
-handwritten notes, cards, drawings from the kids
- powdered gatorade mix
- magazines (although I find this hard b/c even many sports mags have "indecent" pics)
- homemade goodies - oatmeal raisin cookies seem to hold up well. Package in box and wrap really well or vaccum seal to keep fresh and whole
- personal hygiene items
- those little cheap fans attached to spray bottle and batteries
Honestly- if you are willing to share a card or small care package you will make someones day!!!I think most of the folks over there are really generous with their items and when you send cookies to one you brighten the lives of not just one but many. You'd think they'd be stingy with their tastes from home, but no, even in the midst of the desert heat they are sharing.
I wonder if we could set a goal of x number care packages to be sent over this summer and challenge ourselves to show our men and women over there how much they are appreciated?? I know that I personally need to step up and do more than I have been .

Here's my input since we are sending things over weekly:
1. Batteries are big because they have trouble getting them anywhere. My son goes through a set of batteries every couple days in his camera.
2. They don't need toothpaste. One of the things they have all said is that they get enough toothpaste to supply the entire nation. Don't send it unless they specifically request it.
3. The flat rate box has gone up to $8.95.
4. The guys in my son's unit have asked us not to send sweets because it's so hot that they can't stomach them right now. Most of them also will not eat homemade goodies unless they are from someone they know.
5. Gatorade packets are huge!! They can get them from the mess halls in the Green Zone in Baghdad but will take any you can send.
6. Supersoakers, water balloons, etc. It's 110-120 degrees there now.
I agree with Pandi410, the cards and letters mean more than anything. Their families are sending them any of their immediate needs and if they are on the move like my son, they can't carry much with them.
I'm sure I'll think of more but that's it for now...

I just pm'd Christy with my brother's address. He is very good about passing stuff along. He knows how blessed he is.
Another HUGE thing for these guys is PHONE CARDS. So many of them come from poorer families, and thus the reason for joining the military..to better their lives. They don't have the money to call home, which breaks my heart. A phone card from Sam's is the cheapest..and it works great over there!!!

Jennifer: I don't know how much the Sam's cards are but others families have told us that the AAFES (the military exchange system) phone cards are the cheapest. Here's a link to check them out and they can be ordered and sent to anyone:

Can one of you get names and where to ship things for a bunch of them? That way we can each send something to a certain soldier. I would love to send a note saying how much I appreciate them with some things that they will use! I would love even more to make it personal by writing to them (using their name). I may not agree with Bush, but my heart goes out to them and all of their families (including you girls).
If not can you PM me with an address. I am going shopping tomorrow.

I will pm you with my brother's address, and he will forward things on to the rest of his unit. Just write him a note in the box telling him that you know me, Jennifer, through "her mommy board"!! Cards, etc. are very much appreciated, too. I am sending out a large envelope of them next week, in fact, that I have been collecting! These guys and girls simply want to know they have not been forgotten.
