Would you have married the same person?

Was being married to a service member harder than you thought?
Made your marriage stronger?
Broke your marriage up?
Changed your spouse?
Changed you?

I guess I will go first:

Yes I would still marry him because I truly believe he and I were meant to be together. I believe the military has brought us closer together and in a sense has grounded me. It has helped me get to know the real me, not accept the "me" others wanted me. I think it has made us stronger. When he goes away we appreciate each other more and appreciate what we have together. Our reunions are amazing (but I will spare you the details). I think the military has given dh so many choices in life. It has helped him stay focused and has helped him grow to be a mature and responsible person. It has also help showcase his work ethic and has rewarded him for being such a good worker and leader! The military lifestyle has changed me but for the better. I am growing into myself. I was once very unsure of myself; dependent on what others thought of me; completely oblivious to any strengths I had; and extremely sensitive. I am now an anonymous person in a big wide open world and ready to find out who I am. So yes, I am happy with the results so far. It has changed me for the better!

I was in the military before and that's how we meet. If I was a civilian though yes I would still marry him. I think DH is one of a kind. He is a mature man for a 24 yrs old. There are some bickering between us about certain things in the army. He's a non commissioned officer and when I got out I was an enlisted. So little stuff that he knows about being an NCO I didn't know. There are bad and good about being a military spouse but at the same time the way I look at it its just temporary. Not excited about moving (PCS) every three years but what the heck I might as well get used to it.

Okay, I'll try to answer that one.

I would marry my husband again anytime, military or not.

I was pretty young when I got married and to be honest I never really thought much about whether it would be hard to be married to a servicemember.
I think it also changed me and made me the person I am today. I had to grow up and learn to take responsibility because even though you are married you can never really rely on your husband and have to learn to take care of things on your own, you never know when he will be around...
We had some pretty rough times in our marriage so far BECAUSE of his job but once we got through them I think they made us a stronger couple.
