Question Tax Free Shopping ~ Is it really all that big of a deal?

I don't know about your base, but our base' BX/NEX/PX whatever you want to call it, isn't all that great. Sure they have the name brands but the prices are not all that spectacular. They pride themselves on being tax free, which draws people in, but for the most part I find their prices too high ~ unless of course they are having an end of the season clearance sale.

How does your base shopping compare?

I just remember buying just about everything at the BX and Commisary when I was growing up.

When we lived on base i did all of my shopping there. I thought that the prices were generally pretty good. There were a few items that i would get off base but not many. Baby and kids clothes were always great deals for us.

We barely buy anything at the PX. Their selection is really poor and they usually don't have what I want. I shop on the economy for most of what I need because even with the Euro being so strong towards the $ most things are still cheaper and the quality is better.
