I have boys in 2nd & 4th grade this year, today will wrap up their first week of school & so far so good.

Last year they had the "color system" where they started out the day on green, if they had a warning it would go to yellow and so on, there were 5 levels. I HATED that system, because my youngest has ADHD and was constantly getting his color changed, which made him look like a "bad" kid when he is not. My dh is not as understanding as I am, and my poor ds was in trouble with him all the time.

Good news, this year they dont do that, the first warning, they have to go to the -refocusing center, if they have to go ther more than twice in one day, they have to go sit in the Kindergarten room!!! Who would want to do that? (4th graders would go to the 1st grade and sit) I think this is a much more productive approach that may get better results.

We have "E" for excellent, "G" for great, "S" for so-so, "N" for needs improvement, and "U" for unsatisfactory. I think it is a good system. No one is expected to be perfect all the time....sometimes you are just "so-so", but you have a goal to be better than that..and it gives you a few chances before becomming to the part of needing improvement! I also have an ADD child...and this is a super system for him!

we have a 4 color system. if you get to red (step 3) you get a parent alert sent home, if to black, your sent to the office and parent are called then
kenz has gone on yellow once, whn she kept talking during school (and ppl say "what about socialization" ) and red once when that silly leprochan moved all the pins! her only problem has been talking, but usually after a warning (they give 1 before moving the pin) she'll stop, atleast being noticeable, she's sneaky

DD was on the color system last year and I would think will be this year too (we start on Friday, so I'll find out for sure), but it's the same idea...Start the day on green, 1 warning, they 'pull a blue stick' 2 warnings, it goes to yellow, 3 rd time is a red and it's a time out in another classroom, after that it's to the principal's office for a phone call to home. Luckily, DD has never been past blue. It is unreasonable to think a 5 year old will only have 'green' days.

I don't really know if we have a system? If there is a problem, the teacher will call and discuss it. If it is a major problem the principal will be involved. I am not sure though since my kids have never had discipline problems
