but does anyone else dread school starting back. I guess I just hate the "routine" of it. I like having days that we can sleep in or do something on spur of the moment. I think alot of it is that my dd is going into the fifth grade and I know it will be an extremely busy year. My ds is starting first grade and they have to read a book a day (yes, it is a small easy reader book), but it is like pulling teeth to get him to read to us. He loves to be read to, but hates reading to us.

I am looking looking forward to school starting but only because I actually like more of a routine.
Thanks for sharing about your ds and reading mine is also going into first and it sounds like we have the same problem. He loves math and it good at it. He will read me his site words but books well nada! I even offered him .10 cents a book to read to his little brother no go I love to read so it really baffles me! Also like your ds he loves to be read to.

I am not looking forward to the morning rush, but the rest of it I am! We need more routine here too!

Oh God!!! Me, me, me!!! The school year is so stressful for us because both my kids do sports and music and I'm really picky about grades, so it seems like I'm always nagging about getting ready, hurry up, you're gonna be late, EEK why did you make that grade, go practice. I feel like a witch sometimes nagging so much. I like summer MUCH better. We start Tues, and already I've got my kids packing backpacks, trying to buy last minute things...EEEK!!!!

I think you said it best. My dd make extremely great grades, but if a grade slips on homework or a test I also feel like I am being a nag. Truthfully, I am worried that I will have to stay on Matt and his grades. Ohhhhhhhh, I just dread it.
Britt is going to participate in volleyball, soccer, basketball and dance this year. Matt will only be doing soccer. Did I say how much I dread it??

I'm raising my hand! I love the laid back easiness of summer. I'm dreading the idea of having to become a responsible parent again.

I'm with you! I like being able to do "whatever" and school throws a wrench in that! It doesn't help that I'm a teacher, so when they go back, I go back too!

I also do not like the morning rush. This week I am starting the kids back on their schedule. What I don't like is the beginning of school & the fall is our busiest time. DH is a band director at the school & this is his busiest time and I have the tendency to get very stressed & b****y.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say. I really hate the hustle and bustle. There is too much stuff to cram into too few home hours. I have so much more to stay on top of with my children, my home, and my job. It is just so stressful. Uuugghhh!!!

This is what I fear for Parker. Carson is extremely driven and conscientious, but Parker is more laid back and okay with mediocre. This will be quite the challenge for me....and he is only going in kindergarten. Wyndser will be a piece of cake, I think, because she wants to be able to do everything her brothers do, so pre-k should be smooth. As long as she doesn't cop her sassiness with me........
