In all of MN it is 5 by Sept 1st. In IA I know it was some time in October so we sent my dd to IA to live with my inlaws to start kindergarten and transfered her up to MN. Her birthday is Sept 4th and she was waaay more than ready. She is in the 9th grade this year and we have never regreted doing it.

Crap! Ours is 5 by July 31st!!! My boys were more than ready (Oct. 23 and Sept 1) but couldn't go because of that darned July cut-off. Of course, giving them an extra year may help them out, but DANG. Wyndser made it since hers is in the middle of July....she will be one of the youngest in her class.

There is a website out there that lists all the states and the cut offs - maybe I can track it down.

In Tennessee the cut off date is Sept 30th. My dd will be 5 on Sept 10th.
