DD just started K this year. They have lunch at 10:40 and a snack (pretzels, crackers) around 1:00. She gets home at 3:00. She is hungry then but I don't want to spoil supper as we like to eat around 5:30. I want to give her something healthy, which fortunately she loves fruit and veggies. What do you give your kids after school, or do they even have a snack?

My girls will both eat luch this year at noon and they get home at 3:20They have a morning snack around 10. They are usually starving when they get home. All the burned up brain cells I guess. Anyway, they get popcorn, pretzels, cheese and crackers, wheat thins, cheese-its, fruit, carrots and celery with ranch or peanutbutter, granola bars, popcicles, that sort of thing. I usually let them choose. We eat dinner between 5:30 and 6:00 so I don't want to spoil their dinner either but they always seemed ravished when they get home.

I really let my kids have whatever they want...them not being hungry for dinner has not been an issue. They eat a whole variety of things, just depends on what they're in the mood for. They eat all kinds of things, fruit, veggies, cereal, soup, sandwich, popcorn, rice cakes, quesadilla, pizza etc

Go to Kraftfoods.com
they have a tab that says "back to school". It has ideas for lunches and snacks. I am gonna try some of their snack mixes for their lunch boxes and after school snacks. Something that i can throw together and have on hand.
