Question Vitamins?

Ok, I am feeling guilty for not giving my kids a daily vitamin. They are (fortunately) both healthy, and I do my best to give them a varied and healthful menu, but I am lacking in the vitamin area (even for myself). What brand do you give your kids and where have you found the best pricing? Do you take the same brand yourslf? I am thinking that a big ol' vitamin jar from Costco might do? TIA for your help!

The dr always told me it was not necessary so my kids have never had one.

Same here. I have to give iron to my daughter because she's anemic, but he told me I don't need anything else as long as she gets a varied menu (except for flouride drops because we drink R/O water).

With my son, I only supplement due to his Aspergers. But yeah, our doctor says that they don't need more supplementation unless they show a deficiency, as long as they are getting a decent diet. The vitamins are a waste of money for the water soluble ones (where they just leave your body through your urine/other when there's more than it needs) or dangerous for the fat soluble ones where a toxic buildup can happen, like with Vitamin A.

On a side note, there has been a lot of media coverage about supplementing with Vitamin D. The doctor also told us it wasn't needed, although we are inside most of the time (we live in a hot climate) and wear sunscreen when we are out. He said that the sun coming in the windows of the house and car, even though our shutters are closed most of the day, is enough, unless we lived in a very cloudy climate where it was dark inside a lot.

Interesting, my dr. suggested it at their physicals this spring. He seems to think it can't hurt (which I agree with), but hey, they all have their own opinions!
I just find vitamins way expensive, so the frugal me has always avoided them. So I came to the pros here to help me out!!!

New here. This is what my girls take. They love the taste and I love their adult vitamins for myself. Nature's Plus Animal Parade Assorted 180 Chewable

We do the Flintstone vitamins. Although I have to admit that I am lucky if i remember to give them one, once a week. I am so horrible-bad mommy! My doctor mentioned them, but she did say that she knows (she is a friend of ours) that my kids eat healthy at home. So if they take them or not, it was not a big deal. I figure a little extra vitamins here and there, is good. I think I may try to get them to take them everyday since they will be starting school and be around germs. My 4 & 5 year old have not had ONE cold since they stopped going to daycare almost 20 months ago!

My ped doesn't recommend them...she told me that they really don't get absorbed very well to be of any help. My kids eat a really varied diet, so it's not a concern for me.
