Okay ladies maybe you can understand my situation here. WE might be moving to another base in November not bad though its just 30-45 mins away depends on the traffic but its horrible in the morning since commuting between the two bases you have to pass Frankfurt Airport and the city its just right near by. The bad news? I'm due November and the housing over there is fully book you have to wait 3-4 months to get a on post housing. So they recommend people to live off post. Bad news? the rent is over price. I think it is. A lot of my friends that live off post here in Germany says its over price. Not to mention if we do live off post its going to be in the city of Wiesbaden itself or somewhere in the country which is 20-30 mins away. Not good if you have one vehicle Plus the euro rate is going up and up and the housing allowance is not catching up with the problem. So people had to pay out pocket the utilities and the rent itself if they are short. What can we really do? you can imagine the commute between the two bases for 3-4 months with a van that would mean we have to buy gas twice a week. Gas ain't cheap either to fill ours full tank its $50.00. One friend of ours she live about 30 mins from the base (out in the country) she paid 300 euros just this year for their heating oil. That's $400 something dollars. Not to mention some of our appliances are Americans and we use a "transformer" to convert it to 2/20 and that uses a lot of electricity. That's what kills lot of people that live off post. I'm not worrying about the move itself what I'm stress out about is finding a place and I certainly don't want to live off post right now with the euro rate is going up and with one vehicle gosh, I don't know what I will do if I have to take one child to the doctor. We are looking at getting a second vehicle a use one of course but lots of them are over price too. The cheapest one we found was $3,000 and it wasn't even that good. It had rust all over the bumpers, and the side doors it would not pass inspection. I"m hoping that we get our orders 90 days ahead that way we can still put our name in the waiting list for on post housing and give us enough time for me to prepare to deliver our baby and mentally prepare myself without losing my mind But I don't even think that they will consider this a PCS move since DH work (Headquarters) is moving to that base so basically they are just relocating us. They could give him one week to move over there. Since I don't see it in Black and white yet I'm hoping that we are not going there but we are 88% sure that we are. Hopefully I will make it. It could be worse though if DH is not here and I"m the only one taking care of everything and I"m about to go in labor and I don't have any friends out here. Most of them already PCS back to the states.
