The first day of school went well yesterday for both kids. DD is in 1st and she had a really good day and was all excited about taking her lunch to school and not getting too full to eat it all up. LOL

DS had a good day. In the past school years, he has always been very unorganized.. Opening his binder, it kind of looked like Pig Pen on Snoopy.. LOL Couldn't find any papers that needed signed. If something was brought home, it would be weeks before he would actually give it to me and the teacher would be telling him, he would be getting in trouble, no recess, yada, yada, yada.. Well, last night I asked if he had forms for me to fill out. He said his usual "oh, yeah, I forgot, their in my binder". So I got them out filled out and signed them all and put them back. This morning, he was going through his binder and said YES! I get two tickets today!!(reward system) for turning in the forms that I filled out! He is in the 5th grade and I think this year is the first year that he has expressed any interest in turning in forms/papers/anything to get a reward.

I am soo hoping that this is a good sign for the year to come.. If not, 178 more days to go!

LOL well, it says on the website when I looked.. and actually, I was wrong.. they have 174 days now..

And he brought home a paper to fill out about himself, it's not due until Tuesday.. which normally would mean he would wait until Tuesday morning and then say something like I forgot and then expect me to feel bad for him..

Well, he called me this morning and was asking a couple questions because he wanted to fill it out now so he has it ready to give to the teacher before the due date.

He actually matured over the summer months!!

Wow! Here in Northern Ontario we don't start school until September 5th! After the labour day long weekend!!
Well the first week for you sounds like it went really well, I'm hoping to have the same kind of luck. I know that my 6 year DD will do fine in grade 2, she adores school but my 4 year old DD starts this fall and I'm nervous. I know that she will love to have her own friend and stuff like that, but I don't know how she's going to do being away from me for the whole day... I guess I shouldn't jump the gun, I'm sure she'll do great...
