go over seas every year?
I ask this because it's a never ending story with my Dh. He goes to Kuwait at least 6-8 times a year for 1-4 weeks at a time. He also goes to other countries for training at least once a year. How is it for everyone else?

Well I am about to find that out. Dh checks into his new squadron today. My life is about to change....for the worse. Deployments are going to suck....and because there is a shortage of pilots, he'll be going more than usual.

Another thing we've learned is that the AF had some budget cuts so the navy is picking up the slack. So my dh's plane, which was supposed to be a domestic missions only jet, is now doing overseas tours in Iraq

I will keep you posted on this!!!

My DH deploys all the time, although we just got to our new base, so hopefully it won't be too bad, we shall see. At our past bases he was never home for more then 10 months, and was gone a min of 6 months at a time.

My husband isn't in the military but he goes overseas for his job several times a year. I think last time he went at least 8 times and he is there an average of 3 weeks each time. One trip was over a month. That was last August. He goes mostly to Europe and the Orient but he can end up going to the Middle East if he is needed there. He'll be going again in mid-January but I forget where. At least this year his employer seems to be keeping him closer to home during the holidays. He has travelled to customer sites for much of our marriage - over 20 years. He's been in this job that requires international travel for almost 3 years now.

Normally, he's deployed every few months for a length of 2-2.5 months. On top of that, when he's not deployed, he takes about 2 1-week trips a month (some nearby like Alaska, some overseas; Japan and Thailand mostly). It has been different lately, actually, the past month he's been gone on trips during the week, then home for the weekend, then gone again Mon/Tues.

He's going to upgrade (upgrading from co-pilot to aircraft commander) and so he won't be traveling at all for the next 6 months or so.
