Do you see a difference at your post?
Here day care on base is a little more complicated than a civilian daycare would be. If I understand correctly, it's based on your income. Therefore for us and our 4 kids (when we have the girls) it would be something in the area monthly of:

$300 (for the first child)
$150 (for any child after that)
would mean paying $750 a month for 4 kids

That doesn't seem like a lot, but it is when you have to pay the whole amount whether they attend or not. This is only a problem because Dsd #1 is in school now and so we don't get the girls except on every other holiday and 1/2 the major school breaks.

Does anyone here use military daycare, or do you have better luck with the civilian daycares?

We just have DS in the enrichment program at the base CDC (daycare) and its only $70 a month for us. Its only a 3 day a week, 3 hour each day program though so its far from full time. I haven't ever had him in full time care before, but I did work at the CDC when we lived in Turkey and it was based on your rank so some payed a lot more than others! That didn't really seem fair to me. I guess it depends where you live. I think if I had to have DS in daycare I would put him with a home daycare provider licensed through the base. They go through the state and base inspections and qualifications and I prefer a home setting to a center anyday. JMO

$750 a month for 4 kids is an awsome price!!!! Around here it is close to $300 a week at a center for an infant!!! I think you could only do better if you found an individual to watch them that only charges for the days they are there.

I would look for a place that takes drop-ins (kids who aren't there on a regular basis).

My DD attends a preschool that also runs a daycare in the building next door, I try to schedule appts for myself during DD's preschool time so I can leave my youngest DS at the daycare next door as a drop-in and I only pay for the time he is there (which is usually less than 2 days a month).

I've never used military day care but thought about doing it myself. THey have some pretty strict guidelines which are great for parents, but tough on the home owner!

I hope things work out for!
