My dd does her homework at the kitchen table. I've discovered that if she's in her room or off somewhere else in the house where I cannot see her, she goofs off. I can keep a good eye on her at the kitchen table.

I have a kindergartener who brings home homework about once a week. I make him to it at the kitchen table so I can be ready to help him. I am sure that your dd is older than k, but I figure if I get him use to doing it at the table now, than he will do it there later on. That is my plan anyways. I know in jr. and high school, I always did my homework in my room, so I could have music on or something. But I was always really good about doing it. Of course, if I were to let my grades slip any, I would have to do it at the table. That was the deal. And my mom would randomly check my homework to make sure that I did do it all.

My ds does his at the dining room table, if he doesn't, it takes what seems like forever for him to do it. My dd can do hers pretty good with little distraction so she does hers in the living room. Last night, she was doing it sitting on the porch while my ds jumped on the trampoline.

Wherever they want...sometimes they do it at the counter or at the table in the kitchen. Sometimes at their desks in their bedrooms. Sometimes they use their lapdesk thingies and sit on the floor anywhere in the house or even outside.

This is the same in our family. I try and do paperwork at the same time so that we all focus in on our work. They hate it if I'm on the computer (something they see as fun) while they are doing their homework.

My kids do their homework at the kitchen table......the only exception is reading AR books, or just their 15 minutes of reading a day......those, they may go and get comfy to read.
