So I'm hoping that this site will be kind compared to the rest of the world! I went to a play group in my area with my daughter and will never go back. I felt like as soon as I walked in the door I was being judged! Just because I had my daughter when I did doesn't mean I'm a bad mom. The entire time people whispered and really didn't say much to me. Needless to say I left 30 minutes into the group. Any ways I hope I have good experiences on this site.

Im so sorry you had to deal with that. Although Im not a teen mom... Im pretty close.. or was.. with my 1st. I got pregnant at 19. So I know where you are coming from. Im in 2 mommy groups.. one where most of the moms are in their upper 30's early 40's and THAT particular group of women.. are so judgemental. In the other group that Im in.. everyone is mixed in age.. and everyone is so laid back. I must tell you.. THIS group is awesome.. a wide range of mothers here.. so Im sure you'll fit in nicely! I look forward to hearing more about you! WELCOME!!!!

Thanks! My senior year they had a group for teen moms but they couldn't get funding any longer so they cancelled it. I feel bad for the girls at the school. The college I go to has a play group but it is always when I have class. UGH!

Have you tried matchingmoms.org? Thats how I found a lot of my friends. You can sort through the moms in your area by their age or the age of their kids... its pretty cool.

HI!!

I too was a Teen Mom - At age 16 .

I Know Exactly what you mean - I was only 21 When she started school ....
Most of the other moms Were sending their Last child to school!! So I was mostly 15- 20 Years Younger than Every other Mom -

And Still most of my Daughters Friends Are the youngest! She is now 17 and alot of her Friends Parents are late 40's Early 50's! I always Feel outta place.
Oh and When People ask me , " how can you possibly have a Teenager at your age??"

Oh Well , I have Other Mommy Friends in My 3 Year olds Circle and They are all Younger than me.

So I Feel like an oldie with them.... Thats no fun Either

I was 20 at the time I became pregnant and have never been treated badly due to age. If it has happened I guess I just don't pay enough attention/care. However one thing that DID bug me A LOT was the people suggesting I put my baby up for adoption when I was pregnant. Now no one says anything like that but at the time it made me so mad. The fact that I was unmarried/somewhat young did not mean I wouldn't love my baby as much as any other mother. Some people are just idiots I guess, they can take their presumptions and shove 'em. (<_< Okay, guess I'm still a bit ticked about the people back then.)

I'm in that upper 30's mom's group, the "judgemental group" as one poster listed above and I'll tell you, I've seen great older moms but I've also seen some great younger moms as well. I've seen some bad younger moms but I've also seen some bad older moms. It goes both ways. I went to high school with a girl that got pregnant when she was 14 and had the baby when she was 15. She was a good mom then and she's still a good mom - actually she's now a grandmother and I will assume she is a good grandmother as well! You are what you are when you are!

I hope you have a better experience here and now I need to go be a good mom and play with my daughter and this sticker book that is falling apart at the seams!
