DD lost another tooth last week.. I think Thursday afternoon. I told her to keep it and Friday night put it under her pillow and the tooth fairy would come. My mom gave her a plastic baggy to put it in so she wouldn't loose it, since she pulled it at my mom's house. Well, she had it in the baggy, in a box that she carries back and forth.. on Thursday night. I didn't even think to look in it, since I had told her Friday night. Friday afternoon, she checks her box and a little disappointed says.. hmm... the tooth fairy must not have seen it since it wasn't under my pillow last night.

So, I forgot about it on Friday night, so did she.. she checked again Saturday or Sunday on it. I told her that she needed to put it UNDER her pillow otherwise, the tooth fairy might not know where to put the money at. Well, she didn't put it under her pillow and I forgot AGAIN to put money out for the tooth.

Last night, same thing.. she checked it, I told her, I forgot AGAIN! So, this morning, I had her go into another room and I put one gold dollar in the baggy on the box where she had the tooth. I told her to check her tooth to see if the tooth fairy came. She said, "I know she didn't, cause I didn't put it under my pillow." I told her to just check to make sure. When she looked, she was disappointed because there was only one dollar and not two! Apparently, the last tooth she lost, she took to her dad's house, she got 2 gold dollars.

Not only did I keep forgetting, I didn't give enough!!

Same thing happened to my ds a couple years ago.. He knew though that it was me.. same scenario, same everything..

I feel like such a schmuck!

I'm sorry to say this, but... your story is sooo cute
You should tell her the BIG money comes on the next tooth.
Good Luck!

I thought I was the only horrible tooth fairy. Seriously I have failed miserably on all of my dd's teeth. I actually told her one time that the tooth fairy was probably waiting for another tooth to come out. We live in Maine and its hard to get up here all the time. She bought it and happily waited for the other tooth to come out. She was not over impressed that the tooth fairy had not left a bigger bank. Oh well, plus my sister's kids get like 5-10 dollars per tooth.????????? WHAT another girl at school found a new purse and CD. What ever a nice shiny dollar is just right. Maybe a few bills will make her happy next time.

This is all coming from a Mom that told my dd that when the ice cream man rang his bell that meant he did not have anymore ice cream. What kind of mother would do that? I did have my reasons:
1. We owned a convenience store and had a very hard time spending the prces they sell them at
and
2. My DH works at a Jail and a large percentage of pedophiles either were or are ice cream truck drivers...

Aw don't beat yourself up, because *I* am quite possibly the worst Tooth fairy ever!! Not only did I forget my first dd's tooth forever, she caught me putting money under her pillow. I just told her, I'm sorry the tooth fairy forgot, I'm just helping her out!! LOL So then I put the tooth in my jewelry box, and she found it. So she puts the tooth BACK under her pillow, unbeknownest to me. The tooth gets forgotten about until Cameron was playing under her bed and FINDS IT. I'm like WTH??? SO she puts it back under her pillow and by this time, my second dd has lost her first tooth. So of course, true to form, I fall asleep before I can remember to put money under HER pillow. So the next day, dh give me $2 and tells me to put $1 under each of thier pillows. SO I do it while they are at school, and hide both teeth in my underware drawer. That night before bed, they check under their pillows and find thier $$. They get all excited, then Meghan tells me, the tooth fairy never came for her OTHER tooth! And sure enough, there was another tooth in a little treasure box waiting for the tooth fairy.

OH I give up!

I have done the very same thing...a couple of times I forgot like 2 night in a row w/ my dd. I told her the tooth fairy must be SUPER busy so keep waiting. Finally I remembered and snuck like 2.50 under her pillow. I have started writing myself a note (in code) and put it somewhere I will see it before I go to bed so that has helped me to remember. I write it in code of course in case it lands in the floor and one of the older ones reads it aloud...they will have no clue what it means and it won't ruin the surprise of the tooth fairy. My dd is 6 and still believes but my older 3 children no longer believe. I tell them to keep their opinions to theirselves b/c I still believe in the tooth fairy.

You are not alone. I remember my son putting his tooth under his pillow. The "tooth fairy" did come, but because he moved around a lot while sleeping the money got lost in his bed. He came down crying because the tooth fairy took his tooth and didn't leave him anything. I had to go up and take his bed apart to find the money...lol.
