Ok - not everything about it, but this really chaps my hide.

I posted before about us having FT kinder. (you pay the school an ungodly amount of money) or PT kinder. (free). The school itself promotes how wonderful FT is and basically how your child will suffer if you don't do FT, etc etc etc... Of course they want your money - it can't be costing them the amount they charge for an extra 1hr and 15 min learning time (the other 2.75 is lunch, rest, recess, free time).

Anyway - our school has a parade on the first friday of every school year. The high school bands leads the school through the neighborhood and all the parents get to watch and the kids think that it is a big deal. Well ~
THE PT KINDER IS NOT INCLUDED!!! My poor DD has waited and waited until she got in school so that she could partake in this like her sister. Because they are taught in the morning, and the parade is in the afternoon they get left out. Now most of the parents would bring their kid back so they could be in it but the teacher said today "oh yeah - I teach in the morning and won't be here in the afternoon, and the other teachers and aids can't take resp. for them to come back and be in it."

UGH - so now I either disappoint my older DD and not bring the kids to come watch - or disappoint my younger DD and bring her to watch but not participate. URGGHHHHHH

I would talk to the principal about this. If it's a school sponsored event ALL students should be allowed to participate. I would suspect that there could be other arrangements made to allow those children to participate and be supervised even if the parents had to walk with them. As a teacher, I would come back for the afternoon to do thi s with my class. If enough parents bring this concern to the principal, I'm sure it would be handled so that everyone could participate.
