Occasionally dh or I will eat with our oldest for lunch at school. Does anyone else do this? At what age is it embarrassing to the child to have a parent do this? Right now she likes it.

I think it depends on each individual child. Also, I think if a kid is really popular and outgoing, they probably wouldn't mind it at any age, if they get along well with their parents. I think most elementary kids would love it. Some junior high kids wouldn't mind, and even some highschool kids. Especially if you are bringing them in McDonalds. LOL.

I would love to do it one of these days, but I am pretty sure they would not welcome little brothers!

I did it all of the time when the kids "went" to school. I also took my younger kids and my neice when I went. My kids loved it and our school welcomed it. You just had to call that morning by a certain time and order the lunches and pay when you came or send the money with the child that day.

If you and your child are close I don't think it is embarassing for them. And when your child gets a little older you can simply ask, hey do you mind if I come eat lunch with you this week? They will tell you if they don't want you there.

I only have one in school right now and DH & I go eat with him whenever possible. Sometimes we eat what they're serving but most often we take our own food since DS usually takes his lunch. DS is in 2nd and loves having us go eat with him and hopefully his younger siblings will enjoy it as much once they start. How long he'll like it is another story but I hope it's for many years!

I have only been able to go do it with my pre-k son, when they have had a fundraiser lunch. I went and we ate homemade chili and cinnamon rolls. His school is quite small and they do not mind if his little brother runs around. They usually bring him out a toy or two to play with. Dh and I have never been able to do it with our Kindergartener, because of work schedules and I do not want to take my 2 year old with me as I know he would not sit still and it would take away from my time with me Kindergartener. Hopefully before school is out we will be able to each do it at least one time.

We go to the middle school and eat with DD at least once a month. We take our own food. DD loves it and my 2 younger kids like to see their big sister at school. I also have a son in high school, I don't think he would like it, I mentioned it once and he rolled his eyes, so I haven't ate with him since he was in 5th grade.

I remember my parents coming to eat lunch with me, and it depends on the kid, but they usually enjoy it, I did. Their friend's enjoy meeting parents.

Nope...it's not an option at their schools, not something I would want to do, unless they REALLY wanted me to do it.
