We have always had our daughter to do chores around the home. I am wondering what you all have your kids do at or around this age??

thanks

My kid love it when I gave them a bottle of dituted vingar and water to spay on the widows and clean it off with paper towels....especially my 5 year old who is now six....kept him busy for a while too. That is worth a role of paper towel! Plus my windows on my french doors are clean.
I let my 3 year old and my six year old put their clothes away/ help fold them.
Skinning the potatos/ carrots...they do their best.
Cleaning up their toys
feeding the puppy/ brushing him
My 6 year old like to put the silverware away...of coarse I take the knifes out first.
Clean up their dishes
Tidy their rooms
My 6 year old likes to vacuum....he actually is a neat kid, likes his things in his room in order. My older daughter does not have an ounce of that in her! She takes her clothes off and they stay where they fall...she will trip over something and still not think to pick it up.......ugh!

We don't have specific chores per se, we just don't do it that way with our family. I do expect them to help out when I ask and have certain expectations, like if they take a toy out, they need to put it away. They need to keep their bedroom and bath tidy. They need to put their laundry in the proper place, hang up their towel after using it etc

Then when I do ask them to do something, I expect it to be done without complaining...some things my guys were able to do at five are: help unload the dishwasher, feed the pets, pick up sticks outside, dust something, swiffer etc

The only ones the girls have to do consistently is pick up their toys, and make sure their clothes go in the laundry at night.

Other age appropriate chores are feeding the cat, helping mommy dust, helping to unload the dishwasher, clearing their place at the table, and I really like the idea about having them help clean the windows. It sounds exactly like something Elise would LOVE to do!!

My daughter helps set the table, unload dryer, put dirty clothes in her hamper, pick up her toyroom, put silverware away from the dishwasher (no knives), put her laundry away in drawers. She loves to help & I think its great that she's learning to be responsible at such a young age.
