Hi, my brother was born in 1985 and them later my mother split up with my dad (I was with my mother). I know his initials and the place where they had gone at a later stage. I also know that he is dead; I need to get information about such databases that can help me to get information of my brother’s birth and death dates.

Is there any other info to go on? Do you know where he was born? Do you have his birth date, approximately? Do you know his last name? Do you know where he died? Do you know where he's buried? Any idea how old he was when he died? Have you tried to get a copy of the divorce decree?

You said you know where they were at some point in his life. Do you have an approximate date and exactly where they were, or just the state they were in? You know your dad's name, right? Have you tracked that way? Because if he attended school as a youngster during that time, and you know the last name, you can look for school records or yearbooks.

You could try the social security death index

What about the state he was born in/died in...? They have all those records available as public records in the vital statistics office of your state...some states have order forms available online but you may just be better off calling up your city's or state's public record office and talking to a real person to avoid the fees...if possible.

Do you know where he's buried? The office at the cemetery he is buried at may have his statistics as well.

Try googling your state and 'vital statistics' or 'birth records' etc

Good luck!
