What about a Partial Program? what it is is a Day Program that is for persons with a mental health diagnosis. It usually is four days a week for a few hours a day. Lots of hospitals use them as a stepping stone to sending a person home when they really are not ready. (Thank you Managed Care). If he was focused on his recovery, he cousld be calling his caseworker everyday to try and get some treatment. TRust me, the caseworker will get tired of hearing his voice every day and follow through. Partial programs help with coping skills and ones insurance may pay for them. Partial programs may go one for a few weeks or a few months, depepnding on the persons insurance and their progress. The hospital he was in may have some insight into some local partial programs.
To commit a person in PA, the person who commits them has to sign a petition that they are a danger to themselves. Additionally, they have to apper in front of the hearing team, usually at the hosptial and swear that what they saw is true. At least tht is how it is here. Good luck and keep up your boundaries. These are his issues , not yours. Don't you and your DH work harder at him feeling better than he is.
