I flipped through the etoys catalog last night. I always have a hard time deciding on what to get the girls for Christmas.

Do you have a list?

Are you already finished shopping?

I've started picking up some stuff for the kids. I am having a hard time with what to get Mags. She turns 3 the end of Nov - so I need Christmas and Bday. She has tons of "babies" and I "want" (really badly) to stay away from polly pockets and other toys with tiny pieces that get all over. I feel really stuck. Any suggestions?

I haven't started Christmas shopping at all for her. My dd would change her mind a million times between now and Christmas if I had her make a list right now, so I'm not even going to ask her until late October if there's anything she's interested it.

My kids keep an ongoing list on one of my computers. They add to it, and subtract from it all year. Just depends on their likes/dislikes...what they're into etc I have them take a final look at it in November, before I start a lot of my shopping.

There are some things, like book series I know they like, clothing, outdoor equipment/sports related items - that I don't typically have to ask to know if they'd like them or not...so those things, I buy throughout the year if I see something or it's on sale etc

My youngest will be 3 on Nov 6th. I have the same dilemma.

We have lots of Polly stuff. I put all the tiny parts & shoes in a ziploc and put them away. The girls pouted about it a little but got over it. I don't have any problems with it and they enjoy them

My oldest is 5 1/2 so my 3 yr old has plenty of things to play with.

If you don't have a Train set, that is a HUGE hit in our house. We have Thomas & Brio things. I have the train table in the living room. It has two trundle drawers underneath. One side has miscellaneous toys and the other has all train accessories. We got our train table, tracks and most of accessories on Craigslist.

I'm thinking about buying something new for the train set for Christmas.

The problem with my five year old is that she asks for things and I know she won't play with them. She wants dolls but then she doesn't play with them.

This is a great idea for older children! I'll have to keep that in mind for later.

Other than clothes and replenish of school supplies, I do not have much on my list. We have all the kids bdays right around Christmas, so we always have to set aside one or two things for that too. I have absolutely no clue what to get the older boys this year, they have so much already, they really do not need anymore toys. I need to really weed thru their toys that they have now and get rid of a lot. DS3 will be easy, I have a few ideas for him. He really likes the Vtech educational toys, so he will get something there. DS4 (due date 11/5/08), he will of course just get clothes and maybe a soft plush toy of some sort.

I usually have a general idea of what to get my girls. I have the basics that they get no matter what (new winter items- gloves, hats, at least one new winter outfit, set of pj's, new books, new movie and new art/craft things).

I am slowly working on Christmas- with the price of everything going up I am cutting back hardcore! My oldest loves to read so when I am close to the local Goodwill I will pick up a few paperback novels for her, she also has a nintendo ds and this past summer I picked up 2 games for her for Christmas. My youngest has an obsession with American Girl dolls and I have a bed for her dolls (she was supposed to get 2 dolls for Christmas, but since she found them she got them for her birthday!) and 3 outfits for her dolls. For the most part I think I am almost done with them (unless I find a really great deal on another American Girl "big" item) and then I will have to even it out again.

Great ideas!

I will probably do a new movie, outfit, night gown and book also. Last year I purchased the books from the Scholastic sales at school.

There are several movies being released, Tinkerbell, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Horton.
