My dh said it is a good idea as long as he doesn't feel "trapped". We both know there are times that money needs to be spent and he also knows ME and my lack of wanting to spend money at times.

So, as long as he gets a bit to go on those power lunches at work and such, he is more than happy about it.

We are on board as well. The only part that will be hard is the eating out part. We normally go out 1 time a week and spend less than $20 for a family of four. That will take some easing into for my family.

Kim, Would it be appropriate to use Christmas gift money for that? I always try to keep some of it seperate so that we can enjoy some of it & not just throw it all into the household checking account!

Here's my response (it was already in another thread):
Spending Freeze: Just a Note About Being "Good"

The short answer... you have to answer questions like that for yourself!

I love this idea

I had talked to my DH about it, and like i said in another post, my mistake was telling him my plans and including him in them with out asking him first. I think he still thinks im crazy, but he's willing to give it a try. (Im not quite sure, though, if he's agreeing just to agree or if he means it. He knows we need help in the finance department, so i want to believe he means it. We'll see how it goes.)

Kim, thanks for the link. DH & I had talked about eating out last night and it is really the only extra thing we do.

Our main goal is for me to cut the impulse buys and to really decide if something is needed. I think that by cutting these things and trimming the grocery bill some more, we will be in a good position and I will have broken the habit of shopping while dd is in preschool! This has also taught me to take a look at how I buy the kids' clothes ahead of time. This season I wound up with way more clothes than they needed. I am going to seriously cut back on that and not buy so much just beacuse it's a good buy!

DH is always in support of us spending less money and saving more!!

My husband is on board ... he just doesn't completely know about it!

The buddy system sounds like a good idea!

I'm all set. As I mentioned elsewhere, when I emailed him about it (he's out of town) my hubby said, "spending freeze sounds like fun!" My MIL has been totally supportive too.
