Great! I actually just wrote about these two things in my blog - makes sense at this point in the project. Thanks, Kim, for your guidance!

Awww! What a good learning experience for him. That is a great victory!!!

This is great to thing about.
My temptations are/were:
--hot chocolate from Tim Horton's
--new tennis shoes (wanting for a long time!)
--eating out in general/pizza

My victories were:
--NOT eating out, taking lunch to work
--conserved gas by staying home when possible, including one entire day
--I usually eat store bought muffins for breakfast on work days--so I wanted to make the peanut butter muffins posted in one of the FTJ cooking posts instead, but I had no baking powder--I googled baking powder, and saw that it was in pancake mix (which I did have), so I substituted part of the flour for pancake mix...turned out great

The only temptation I really have is eating out. We do eat at home a lot but we don't really cook. We usually just make simple meals.... mostly meals that come in a box. I'm not much of a cook and it seems like I don't really have the energy to try to cook. And sometimes I feel like it's cheaper for us to eat out by the time we go out and buy all the ingredients to actually cook something at home. And even if it wasn't cheaper I feel like the ingredients would go bad by the time I use them again.

I'm really getting sick of having the same couple meals over and over again every few days. Does anyone else have this issue? Or am I the only person in the world who is like this? lol.

I just went to KMart today and was also tempted by the 75% Christmas sale. I had two candle rings in my hands (each only $2 and change) and I was strong and put them back. Almost $5 that I didn't spend. Yay!

However, not the same thing happened at Walgreens today with food. They had Progresso soup, cereal, jello and toilet paper on sale, all with Walgreens and manufacturers coupons, and the mineral make-up I use (BYG1 free) plus coupon.

I'm going to have to move food items to the approved list because I can't see spending full price in a few weeks when I can save right now!

Well, at least I was good at KMart with the candle rings. But, I did get my son a winter coat he needed for 40% off; so were his gloves. Hmmm. It's hard to not spend anything; especially when things you need crop up. I guess my spenditures weren't frivilous. I can be happy about that, at least.

This has been an issue for us too. I do enjoy cooking, but I don't always have time. I'm finding out how much we rely on convenience foods. They're not just more expensive; they're not as healthy. Later on in the FTJ project, we'll be taking a closer look at grocery/food budgets since for most of us, second to our mortgage, that's our biggest expense every month. I'll be sharing some tips on how to eat the things you want to be eating for less. BUt, I do think this is a huge eye opener!
