For me, it was almost easier to stay out of the stores completely and not spend any money. The Modified Freeze was harder because it was easy for me to justify the expenses. On the other hand, it was nice to be able to indulge in "small luxuries" such as eating out.

What do you think? Was the Modified Freeze easier? Why or why not?

I totally agree. Complete spending freeze means NO spending. Modified spending freeze meant I could go back to my old ways - justifying purchases!

Of course the Modified spending freeze is probably a little more realistic. I can't go thru the rest of my life NOT spending anything - I just need to work out the legistics of budgeting first, making a list of what things we need to buy and then making sure I wait 24 hours before purchasing anything NOT on the list!

I agree I did so good when I was on the total freeze and went back to older habits on modified.

I went with the Complete Freeze. The Modified freeze allows for so many more gray areas and justifications...and I can rationalize with the best of them!

I agree w/ the other post... for me, the complete spending freeze is easier. I guess that is why we fail sometimes and get our selves into debt/ or not save $$$. We can rationalize any purchase and put it under the "approved spending" BECAUSE of "X" reasons! Not spending any money is way easier, it's more like black or white, you either can or can not do with out it!
