The next phase, Mindful Spending, starts today!

Modified Spending Freeze
While doing the Mindful Spending steps, I'd like to suggest a modified spending freeze. For some, this may mean only spending money on necessities such as food/groceries. Others may want to designate other "approved" items such as graduation gifts, Memorial Day activities, etc. It's really up to you - but it's important that you lay the groundwork for your own Spending Freeze PRIOR TO STARTING.

What will YOUR rules be?

Coming soon: Identifying spending weaknesses, creating more meaning in your purchases, ways to save money, etc.

I am so excited for the next phase!!!

My approved spending will be
groceries/gas
$15 per birthday party (3 in the next month)
$25 added to the budget for Memorial Day Picnic food
Possible $150 for DH for landscaping/home improvement

That is about all that I can think of - grad parties & baby showers aren't starting until late June for us...

Lets get started!!!!

My rule will be sticking to my list...If it isn't on the list, it doesn't get purchased. This will be no easy feat as I need ot goto Kohl's and exchange some stuff my mom bought for the kids and I got a 30% off coupon...but I will make a list before I go, and that is it. If it isn't on it.....It doesn't get purchased.

We are in a spending freeze at least till the move is done. After that I want to work up a new budget and plan (spend so much a month) my spending instead of going hog wild.

With moving far away our food budget is crazy but I told the girls we have to pack more snacks and watch eating out so much.

Budget one meal a week ($20 or less) but for when our families come to visit and our turn to treat.

Other than that ONLY stuff need right away. Very hard when I am a stockpiler and I love target clearence and dollar spot.

I was just at Sam's Club today and stocked up on cleaning supplies & diapers. I was sooooo close to buying AirWick Plug-Ins, but put them back. Very proud of myself, but I know someday I will buy these! I'm guessing I won't need cleaning supplies for quite a while, making my grocery shopping easier and less expensive.

This will be a hard time for me to go on a spending freeze as we'll be leaving for vacation soon. At the same time, keeping all of this in mind will help me not go overboard when I see something too cute to pass up!

Uck, my husband just walked in and said he spent $3.75 per gallon for gas.

That not bad I saw 3.99 on the way to the store today. That was for Regular unleaded.

One of my biggest temptations and I try not to do it is buying DD something when I go to the store. Ok Shes 2 and doing fairly good at sitting in the cart while I shop. So I did good today nothing extra at the grocery.

I want to stick to the budget that I have planned out and pay extra money towards our cc debt and not that COACH handbag that I have been eyeing up
