Really picture yourself living the life of your dreams. If you could snap your fingers and ask for any changes in your life... what would be different? Would you have a different job? More money? More leisure time? Try to really visualize it and imagine what it would feel like.
How would it be different from the life you're living now?

I am almost living my ideal life.
The only things I would change would be ..
a) To be at my goal weight. (I hope to be there by mid July or early August).
b) To substantially increase our salary to at minimum $65K before taxes. I'm getting tired of forced frugality and scrimping on everything. If we had more, we could do more, give more, live more .. any maybe even one day get that second car we've always dreamed of having. But the trick is .... to increase our salary I'd have to work more and then I would no longer be living my ideal life. Such a conundrum.

It would not be very different! I would like more money though so we could pay off the debt and make home improvements. I would also like to have dh not have to worry about staying at his job because it pays well. He has been there too long and needs a change.

Mine also wouldn't be much different. I would prefer living in the country with a big ole garden, chickens and maybe some cows, but other than that I feel my life is ideal.
ETA: My ideal life, the life I am living is: staying home with my kids, cleaning and cooking for my family, taking care of them and still having time for the things I enjoy, too. Not having to worry about money. We don't worry about money. We know we have just enough to get by and we live frugally to do that. We also know we have everything we need.

Honestly, an ideal life for me would be not having to worry so much about what this world will be like when my children are grown.

One of my childhood dreams was to grow up and become and Archetect. I didn't follow that goal and there are more times that I think I should have. I love to design things and so I would love to design a home.
I am talking draw out the floor plan, over see construction, make all interior decorating choices have the furnishings all custom ordered.
I would like my family to have room for our passions and hobbies.
I have a weight problem and would love a personal trainer, I can't keep my house clean and my yard kept up so a once a week gardener and a house keeper would be nice too.
That way I could focus my time on being able to do things with my friends and family. Giving back to my Community. I would love to use my skills and talents not to earn a living but to give back.
Still Ideally I would want to have enough money to do many of the things I have dreamed about. I have traveled enough to give me the taste for travel. I would love to have the means to learn first hand about the world and other cultures
Will we get there? Probably not right away but in 15 years or so maybe I can work on a few of those things. Still its fun to dream about what you want.
Currently for where I am (Late 20s) things are ideal, I am blessed with a DH who loves me and is an excelent provider, a 2 year old DD who is the sunshine in our lives, A home and being able to stay home with our DD. I think right now the only thing really missing is that second baby we are working on.
I like focusing on all the things that are going right in our lives
Idealy I would li
Really

What if you could get paid for something you don't consider work? What if your dh could get paid more for doing something he also loves? I think there are ways to raise your salary without working more...

What an interesting question!
I guess in many ways I am living my ideal life...staying home and taking care of the family (that may end soon when both my children are in school full time. Ugh). It certainly would be MORE ideal if we were debt free and had more money to remodel the house like I would want to and travel more. I would love it if there were a way to stay continue to stay home...do some sort of job, like you said, that didn't feel like work from home. Also, I would love the ability to be able to say "yes!" when friends call wanting to go out to dinner with us without having to hem and haw and see if we have enough left over in the budget and feeling guilty when we decide to go out anyway.

As I sit here on the deck this morning, sipping my coffee, with the aroma of lilacs and apple blossoms wafting by, listening to the birds singing, I'm trying to think what could be more ideal than this. I look in every direction and see nothing but farm fields and woods. There's a flock of wild turkeys wading through the alfalfa field, and the hay is so tall I can only see their heads bobbing up and down. It looks like a mini Jaurassic Park. I know we have problems, and things that could be improved, but right now I can't think of a single one. We are so blessed.
DS is awake now, and DH just pulled-in from morning milking, and the dog just noticed the turkeys and is barking his head off. Quiet time is over for me.

Now that would be ideal! I'd love a bit of both. We're hoping dh's salary goes up once his PhD is done and he LOVES his work. I hope to find something that I love just as much. There are lots of things I love but so far none that have made me any extra money.
