little girl: hula dancer/teacher
early gradeschool: nun
middle school: psychiatrist
Jr. High: hallmark card writer
9th grade: Archealogist
10th grade: genetic researcher/ob/gyn
11th grade: same
12th grade: Got a B in chemistry & Dad convinced me no med school would accept me. Dropped all math/science courses & concentrated on TV/Film production

Majored in radio/tv/film. Worked in TV for a few years - won some awards. Left the field when I married DH as I worked for his dad, and I would be DH's boss. Since working for EDS, I've been in customer service, corp comm, graphic design & am now in project management. Would give it all up to go back to TV.

Being a mom was never a dream of mine. I thought I would be one as it was expected of my generation, but it was never "I can't wait to have kids."

In elementary school, I wanted to be a teacher. I always played school with my younger brother and cousins. Then I developed an interest in being a surgeon. In high school, I found I had a talent for mechanical drafting/engineering. I wanted to go into biomedical engineering. I chose to enter the physical therapy program at a local university. There I found that really enjoyed chemistry. I ended up with a BS in professional chemistry ad worked in dental materials research until we started a family. I never dreamed I'd be a homeschooling SAHM. I always pictured myself in a professional scientific career. But, lookng back, I think I saw myself that way because that's how others (teachers, family & friends) talked about my future.

OK...to get the full effect, I have to tell you that I am very much a "girly girl". I love all of the frills, thrills, purses, highlights, and french manicures that go along with it. That being said, I wanted to be a big rig truck driver. Yep, I still do. (Minus all the crap they have to go through...)

A flight attendant. I had a few interviews but it was at a time when the airlines were really struggeling, like now. I ended up being a travel agent and got my degree in elementary ed, never did teach, I remarried and have been a sahm since. I still think about being a flight attendant though

In jr high, I wanted to be an interior designer....which is really funny to think about because it took me 7 years to paint any of the walls in my house anything other than white.

I ended up getting an accounting degree, which is about as far from an interior designer as possible.

When I was a little girl about five I wanted to be a stripper like Nicky on Young and the Restless!!! My grandma watched us a lot while my parents were working and she always watched soap operas.
I cant remember what I wanted to be after that until Jr. High. I wanted to be a Marine Biologist. But beings I lived 1000's of miles from any ocean it was a little far fetched. After that I wasnt sure what I was going to be but I thought I would go to college and get some sort of a business degree. Than I changed my mind and thought about being a teacher. After I got married I wanted to be a nail tech but couldnt afford to go to beauty school-still cant. Right now I am kicking around the idea of becoming a Para professional (teachers aide). Here in order to get paid better you do have to have some schooling. I am going to look into it this summer and see what happens next fall. Beings you can take some many courses either via the internet or correspondence, it might just work.

Oh yeah - I wanted to be a marine biologist as well, when I was in high school. Dad talked me out of that one too. Some friend had a daughter who was one who couldn't find work.

As far as I can remember I always wanted to be a teacher, then I hit High School and that changed! Then it was a nurse, I even went so far as to take my entrance exam to nursing school but life got in the way and I went to work full time.
I can honestly say though I never thought I wanted to be a Mom. I never really went through the baby doll phase (I was all about Barbie and her high powered careers and plethora of Ken dolls )

Latest Blog Entry: Feeling Better

I went through many different things. First I wanted to be teacher, then a journalist, then a nurse, back to being a teacher, than an occupational therapist, and then a psychologist (which was when I entered college). My best friend and I had our entire life mapped. We were going to complete college together open a practice together marry our high school sweathearts and live next to each other, have children and they would be best friends (maybe if they were male/female marry one day). What silly things we dream up. Of course my life is nothing like that. I don't have children yet - trying but none. My best friend at the time ditched me because I supposedly had no time for her. I am a social worker.

Looking back social work is the best position I could be in...I just can't wait to be back and working with elderly again. Only 4 weeks to go!!!
