Welcome to the Forget the Jones Project 2008!

Each year at Mommysavers we hear from a lot of you who resolve to get out of debt, break the paycheck to paycheck cycle or save more money. We want to help all of you. However, cutting up the credit cards is just the first step in achieving true financial fitness. You also need to change the way you look at money and how you relate to it. You need to redefine your relationship with material possessions, see just how your self-worth may be connected to your net worth and really analyze how you’re using your other greatest resource, your time. It's all about being mindful with your spending and putting your money where your priorities, dreams, and values are. In this year-long project, you’ll learn what you need to know to improve your finances and your life all at the same time. Think of it as a "best you" with a financial twist.

Why Forget the Joneses? I really like what that phrase means. To me it means not succumbing to society's pressure to have certain things or lead a certain lifestyle; but rather creating a life for you based on your own interests, beliefs, and one that fits within your own budget. That’s what Mommysavers is all about.

Here’s How It Works:
Starting in January I’ll be posting 100 steps you’ll need to follow to “Forget the Joneses” – one every other day or so – along with some great stories and ways you can learn more. Some steps will take longer than others. Some weeks you might get one assignment, other weeks you may get several.

If you join us after we’ve already started, that’s fine too! Just start at the beginning and do each step before moving on to the next. Some steps won’t apply to you. Some steps will have to do with eliminating debt. If you don’t have debt… that’s great! Sit back and offer your support to those who do while working on the other steps. If you need help during any phase in the project here, post a message. You'll get lots of replies from members who have gone through the same things you have! One of the best things about this project is the support and feedback you'll get right here.

This forum will be private and only viewable by registered members. The only way this plan will work for you is if you actually participate. . I’ll post the steps within this forum, but may instruct you to visit other forums within the board for additional help or resources. Reading doesn’t count – learning doesn’t happen by osmosis – you have to do the work!

Now jump right on in!
