How is the spending freeze going for you? Did you have any temptations, things that weren't on your approved list? What did you do... "approve" them, or delay/forgo the purchase?

How is the Net Worth statement coming? If you don't have that done yet, try to get it done by Monday. We'll be adding two more assignments before next week and I want everyone to try and catch up before we move on.

Happy Saving!

We are doing great. We haven't spent any money that we hadn't approved. And haven't had much temptation either. We got our net worth statement done. I am wondering how often we should do that? Twice a year? Once a year? I found it motivating, but I think doing it too frequently would make it disappointing.

I should be able to finish my net worth statement by Fri. I did it at the beginning of the year, but we've paid off a bunch of debt and DH got a wee raise since then, so I'm curious how things have changed. Although, from last year our overall net worth was way down due to the recession.

The spending freeze is going okay. I went shopping with my sis and didn't spend a thing the other day!

I finished the net worth statement yesterday. Also had to go to target and only bought what was on the list(approved) I just did not go into the other areas of the store!

We have not spent any money at all yet!
Well, technically that's not correct because I did go to the MD yesterday, so that bill will be coming in a few weeks after they get the insurance payment. However, that was obviously on the approved list anyway.
Also, and this is BIG, I just scheduled a payment to pay off the last credit card!! Woohoo! I am so excited! It should be drafted out of our account tomorrow. (I really don't consider payments on existing accounts as 'spending' during the freeze,)

We haven't spent any money at all yet...other than the bills that had to be paid this week.

I've even managed to scrape dinners out of fridge and pantry without a couple quick trips to the grocery store that I normally would have done. I didn't stock ahead last week in preparation, so I'm thrilled to have made it this far! I approved about $30 for any groceries, but am hoping to make it all 7 days without spending any of it.

DH was SO thrilled that I put in the $40 for his trip to Ribfest since he'd already saved it. He can't wait...

Net worth is done and pretty disappointing. Even paying off our last two loans (van and my student loans) wouldn't do much to help since our house has lost so much value. Since we're planning on being in this house for at least another 7 years or so, it's not a huge deal, but it's pretty disheartening to see that number.

We are doing great with the spending freeze! I have been so tempted to hit Starbucks. I also, without thinking, almost went into a bookstore, then thought better of it. Today I do have to hit the grocery store.

One benefit that I have found with the spending freeze is that I have more time. It seems like I am always rushing from this to that when I'm out and about. Since I'm not stopping for coffee anymore, I don't have that rushed feeling anymore. On Tuesday I went to a clients office and always feel rushed getting there. This Tuesday I didn't, and I realized it's because I didn't go the 2 miles out of my way to hit the Starbucks drive-thru!

Going good. Nothing that we didn't write down anyway. The Escrow check for the earnest money we are putting down on our new house hurt. So did the monthly writting out of the medical bills. We have gone to the park the last 3 days that is pretty close to free and my DD got to play with her friends

I caved today. We got McDonald's for lunch. I did pay for it from my own spending money though, so I didn't steal it from any other budget area. I'm still so mad at myself though!!
