If you won the lottery, how would you spend your day-to-day life? Really think about what you would do with your time if money weren't a constraint at all.

DH and I would spend more time caring for and arranging care for our elderly/disabled siblings and we would travel. We are both the youngest in our families. I have an elderly half-sister who lives 800 miles away and I have not seen her for almost 5 years. She is not able to travel that far and I am helping care for a disabled brother here and haven't been more than 4 hours away from him in almost 3 years. I also have an elderly cousin that I haven't seen in 15 years!
We both love genealogy and we would love to go to Ireland to trace our roots farther and find some distant cousin there. We would travel across the US visiting other cousins we have found doing our research. Actually, DH is distantly related to Dave Ramsey-not that we know him. DH's grandmother was a Ramsey and another cousin has made that connection.
We would be free to travel to see our kids and grandchildren whenever we wanted to visit. We wouldn't miss another dance recital or ball game! It would be so much fun!
We would also do more volunteer work. We have always worked in not-for-profit organizations and we would be able to volunteer time and talents when and where we wanted.
As soon as this spending freeze is over, I am buying a lottery ticket!!!

I would still work or go to school and go on with my day to day life. I would buy a nice house with lots of property. I would like to have a mini-farm. I would like to buy my mom a house also. I would also like to travel and send my boys to private school.

I would give my parents back all the cash they have lent to me over the years. I would buy a large area of property and put a nice but reasonable house on it for my family.

I have actually been thinking about this every since that young man from South Dakota one the powerball of 232 million. I think the very first thing I would do is build some type of family recreation center (something like the YMCA, but not) of some sort in our small town and dedicate it in my Parents and Grandparents names. There is absouletly nothing in our small town for the kids to do or even families so alot of kids get into the drugs, alcohol and backwoods partying. I think if they had some sort of center to go to we could reduce the drug problem in our town significantly.

Hm, I didn't think I'd be copying anyone with this one, but I would probably still do what I'm doing now (SAHM), but add in some travel to work on genealogy. There's so many ancestral places I want to see, but no money. Especially since we are trying to keep contact with our families and they all live in different states. Our travel money seems to go to that. But I would also pay off all our debt, set up savings accounts, college accounts for the kids, get a house, and set up college accounts for nieces and nephews. That was a fun question of the day...

DH and I have talked about this several times before

-pay off our mortgage
-pay off my mil's mortgage
-pay off my parents mortgage
-pay off my brother's mortgage
-help my sister buy a house (we would use it as an investment)
-DH would quit his job and start a computer consulting business or partner with someone he does some side work for
-We would invest in some property where we would have room to do some farming and have a few animals
-Set up college accounts for our girls and nephews

It depends on how much.

Save enough to have a decent investment income
Buy new car for me, truck for DH maybe a moterhome and a boat too
Buy several vacation places
Buy land and build dream home
Help the family out. Pay for neice to move out and go to college, pay off parents morgages
See our sibblings with larger nicer homes too.
College accounts for neices, nephew and DD
Might go back to school my self DH would keep working most likely

We would spend a LOT more time together as a family. We are lucky that we are able to spend as much time together as we do now, but there could be so much more. There would definitely be more family vacation. There is just something so wonderful about everyone waking up, making plans for the day and heading out...together!

I would get air conditioning and buy a second car. I would pay off my sister's mortgage and my own existing debt. I would set up college accounts for my kids and my sister's kids. I would give some to my church and some to local charities, and I would invest some. After that, my husband and I would like to travel.

We'd be able to buy a place in the country like we want to without out waiting till we have enough of a downpayment saved. New vehicles would be purchased to replace the ones we have. A few toys would be bought that we've always been wanting. The hubby and I both will go back to work as normal, but won't feel guilty about taking time off and going on holidays, etc. All debt will be paid off immediately also.
