I don't have a foodsaver and I don't have a large amount of casserole dishes to freeze w/. So what do you use to freeze your dishes? Can you use those disposable aluminum things or large freezer bags?

I have been freezer cooking for almost a year and a half. I first tried lining different casserole dishes with foil. Freezing and then popping the foil out and freezing in plastic bags. This didn't work for me since I needed to make sure I had the appropriate casserole dishes not being used. I like to buy cheap foil pans (I can usually get them for about 10 -15 cents each). I then make my casseroles in this. I cover with more foil and write directly on the foil date, item and cooking directions. This makes it easy for me, my DH or a person I might give a meal to to cook it. If I am making soup for my DH to take to work I freeze in the round ziploc containers that have a screw top. Make sure that you leave room for expansion when it freezes. I also use the ziploc square continers for lunches (I found that the gladware covers would crack). At times I freeze directly into ziploc bags.

I use ziploc bags. Then you can use a straw and suck out the extra air. I made some lasagna and used the small aluminum pans and put them in large ziploc bags. Then I could suck out the air. I made some freezer jam and it is just in the ziploc containers. When I do freezer pancakes I individually wrap the pancakes in saran wrap then put 12 in a ziploc and suck out the air. One of these day I will get a Foodsaver, that would be nice.

Aluminum is fine and I use those plastic freezer bowls.

I had a foodsavor but found it to be too much trouble, Sometimes the bags woudl loos the seal plus the bags cost too much. I sold mine in a yard sale and use a straw.

I just tried this yesterday, so I don't know how well it works.
I lined a casserole dish with foil and then with plastic, put the food in, and wrapped it all up. This morning I took the whole thing out of the casserole dish.
