Save money on it by recycling. Our town doesn't charge for recycling but it charges per can of trash. Recycling saves me money and is a GREEN thing to do.

buy reusable grocery bags, change lightbulbs, turn things off when you aren't using them, wash in cold everything except sheets and towels, turn the air up in the summer time, unplug appliances when you aren't using them 40% of the energy is consumed when you aren't even using it.

Garbage disposal

Keep it smelling great by running it during the dishwasher's drain cycle. If this doesn't do it clean it with ice cubes and baking soda.
