Savings account

-Open a savings account. Set one up for emergency funds so you don't end up charging things that come up. Most experts say you should have 3-6 months worth of your monthly income saved up for emergencies.

Shoes

-Make sure you know what's in your closet before you go shoe shopping so you don't end up with 4 pairs of black dress shoes.
-Look for sales at stores.

Scholastic Warehouse Sales

-Be on the lookout for these customer appreciation sales for great deals on books...30-50% off on brand new books.
-If you volunteer to work at the sale they give you credit to spend on the books.

Summer Reading Programs

-Check out summer reading programs at your local library. Some have programs for adults as well as children. Kids can earn prizes and coupons for reading.
-Look for summer reading programs also from Barnes and Noble, Half Price Books, and some sporting places (here the local baseball team also have a program).
