If I could change the landscaping at my house, I would have some shade in the back yard where the afternoon sun beats down.

...rip out some bushes, add more perennials, and get rid of the ivy!

I would get some good non-chemical weed killer and kill every weed in my lawn, and then
add a few slate rock borders around some flower gardens to hide the well pump thing sticking out of the ground and the septic marker, other than that I am very fortunate the lady how had the house built put perennials all over the place!
