Ok- I was in Office Depot today to buy paper for my printer, and I had to choose between regular paper ($3.69 for 500 sheets) and "recycled" paper (30% post-consumer material at $5.79 for 300 sheets.

My question is: is 30% recycled a good number?
Also- does the regular paper have any recycled content? The label didn't say.

I bought the regular- maybe I'm wrong, but somehow I felt I was being tricked here... no label content on the regular, and only 30% recycled on the considerably more expensive kind. I waffled for quite a while, and then decided I needed to do more research. I hate being taken in by a "green" ploy. Even the wrapper on the recycled stuff was green.

I know it generally does cost more (I think) to used recycled... but nearly twice as much?

Good post. I'm not sure if regular paper has any recycled content. It's a hard decision to make, when the "green" option costs so much more than the regular kind. If it's something like paper, I will probably buy the cheaper option, since I can't afford to "throw away" my money.

Frugal is being wise with your money and resources and cheap is forcing everyone else to.
