Well a little anyway. I have taken all of my plastic grocery bag I had stored and am taking them to be recycled and then I am going to only cloth grocery bags from now on. Little step, but at least it is in the right direction.

That's great! I'm wanting to switch to cloth grocery bags as well. My question is, do you buy regular garbage bags? I've been using my stockpile of plastic grocery/target bags for garbage bags.

switching to cloth bags is a really great really simple way to help save the environment

The only problem is I use those bags when I'm walking the dog. I guess a paper bag would work, but not nearly as well

You could save and use your old bread wrappers or cereal bags.
