We're not in the top cities listed, but we're down the road from LA/Long Beach (I'm in San Diego), so it's just a matter of time until we're one big, long dirty air pot.

I used to live in Logan, UT and there were somedays in the winter you just didn't want to go outside-yuck. (Other than that-Logan is a great place to live)

What I have personally noticed is that air quality varies a lot on a local level. Suburbs can be very bad, especially at rush hour. It can really make you sick if you live on the wrong street or downwind of a major thruway.
Where I live now is not on the lists. It's usually on the "good quality air" lists. However, the town where I grew up and where my parents still live is on all three of these lists! Not news to us though.

No shocker to see Atlanta on the list. Our city has one of the worst commutes in the country. What is happening now is very interesting though - the air quality in the smaller cities 60 to 100 miles away is getting worse than the air in the city. There was an article in the paper last week that said Athens, Augusta, and Macon were all experiencing bad levels already and it is only April. Wait until July when it is 95 degrees. Yuck.
