Do you have tips when shopping at Walmart for their groceries?
Do you go at a certain time?
Do they mark down meat? If so, by how much and where do you find it?
What are your three top favorite WALMART brand food items?

I go on Wed when I am off and I have a list and my coupons organized by the way the isle are set up.
I try not to get sidetrack and look at others stuff that is not on my list.
I really don't like wal-mart meat, so I don't buy much of it. Mainly their frozen prebag chicken breast and their turkeys. But I have notice that they do mark their meat down.
I like their salsa, sour cream and cottage cheese, and milk.
I don't buy their brand of crackers or chips, because they are way too salty.
But most of their other brands are Ok for the price.

Pricematch pricematch pricematch!! LOL That is my #1 tip.
I always shop with coupons too, so if you pricematch, make sure you have coupons on top of that. If its a sale that you need a 'club' card, make sure you have that store's card AND circular with you to get the sale price.
I never know when they mark down meat, I havn't figured that out yet. BUT I often find the bakery items daily over by he refridge dept marked down, priced to sell. I will often buy rolls or cookies and stick them in my freezer. The sandwich rolls usually get marked down to .75 for 6, and I use them for garlic bread, just taking out what I need at one time.
I love to use coupons shopping there because alot of times, after he coupon discount, the item is usually cheaper than the Great Value brand item. Cereal is always a good deal there, Most of the time GEneral Mills and Kelloggs are marked down cheaper than the regular grocery store, then I use coupons on them. Pasta sauces are always cheaper, usually the RAgu or the Prego, Also Smuckers Jelly, or Jif PB.
I always end up getting my CapriSuns there because thier regular 'every day' price is always cheaper than other places sale price. They are 1.97 currently, and all the other places have them for $2-2.50 each.

I buy most of my meat at Sams so I am not sure when they mark most of it down. I have found some really good buys though. Almost all of the great value brand stuff is good. We always buy the canned vegetables and there is no difference in quality at all. I usually don't get their crackers or chips either because they are crumbly and broken up. The name brands there are almost always cheaper than anywhere else even with sales.

In our Walmart store the bakery products are marked down every morning at 40% off.
The meat is marked down just about everyday in the morning also at 30% off.
At the end of the frozen food aisle in the endcap is where they have marked down frozen products.
Also down your regular aisles if you look at the price tag and there is a letter "D" behind it that means that they are discontinuing that product.
When I go shopping there it is normally early in the morning with my shopping list and coupons and I have everything planned according to how the store is set up.
I also start with all my personal, pet and household products first and then work my way over to paper products, dairy, canned, boxed and leaave my meat, frozen and produce to last, these 3 areas are where you can spend the most money and if you start there first it seems that you will have your cart filled up and have overspent, that's just my opnion.
We have many favorites, soup, pasta products and yogurt.

My best tip is to go in the morning. The thing a lot of people hate about Walmart is the long lines. I usually have a checker waiting for me when I go on Tuesday mornings.
I like all the GV foods I've tried, except for the pineapple.

My best tip for shopping for groceries at WalMart -- don't!
Our store is not cheap nor is their selection is very good. Also, since it is a super store, I can never live with just a few groceries, I always find something else that I must have.

Can you price match with Wallgreens too? They have Alu foil at Wags and was wondering if I could get the same price at Wally world, too?

best time to shop at Wally world is Sunday mornings when others are at church. They price match any competitors ad that has a set dollar amount (not 20% of an item). I usually find meat on clearence at this time too. We only have a countrymart grocery store/aldi's/walmart in our town so most of my shopping is at walmart since I get diapers/formula there for a resonable price.

I agree that price matching is the best tip. Save on gas driving around and get the best deals on loss leaders at one store.
-I personally NEVER step foot in Walmart on a weekend unless it's around 5:30 in the AM before I go to work. During the week I don't like to go after 10, because I just do not like crowds.
-Have your price matching organized and ready to go. Know when she is ready to scan the Prego and show her the ad, and so on.
Top 3 food items with the GreatValue brand: peanut butter, ice cream, fruit snacks.
