Do you have advice for shopping at Hyvee?

What are your top three favorite Hyvee brand food items that you frequently buy?

Is there anything there that you can usually get for free?

Do they double coupons? Is their a store card for more savings?

Do they clearance their meat and if so when? How did you find out?

They do not double coupons or price match. They are a member of Upromise though.

Check the date on the loss leaders. Many times what looks like a great deal expires in the near future. You would do better to take the ad elsewhere and price match it.

We like their yogurt tubes and their instant oatmeal. They also have the best deal on gallons of organic milk.

Another HyVee tip is to try and shop at one that is associated with a gas station. You will get so many cents off a gallon of gas if you have your receipt when you fill up.

1.i will add that we tend to buy sale items there but deemom is correct check the dates.
2.we find to that some items that are on sale are not advertised like alot of times they will run cereal under a buck for certain brands that they have an excess of.
3. things we eat that are hy-vee brand are their pizza sauce, hy vee spiral mac n cheese. we also buy meat there or at another local chain fareway.

I do 85% of my shopping at HyVee (and the other 15% at Walmart) and I love everything that I've tried of their brand. As mentioned take advantage of their "gas busters" if yours has a gas station ~ and also their coupons (they have pretty good ones in their ads each week).

Watch their milk prices between the brands and the half gallon and gallons. For about a month they were running a small local brand, gallon size, even lower then their store brand milk. Also - Every so often you can get two half gallon jugs for less then buying a gallon jug.

Use internet coupons to your advantage as they do accept them. You can print smart source coupons off their web page and if their are some good ones you can print them again from penny pincher gazette or mypoints.

I work at one.

We don't double coupons. Each store is run differently so if you're lucky to live in an area that has multiple hy-vees check the papers for one day or 3 day weekend ads (these will be completely seperate from the normal weekly or biweekly ads). One store might run a sale while the others do not. We DO price match if it's an ad from one of the other stores or from the Hy-Vee Drugstore.

Also check with your hy-vee as we have a flyer with coupons for hot foods, cold case salads in the kitchen, etc although this normally comes out in the free weekly penny paper thingy- but there's always extra in the kitchen dept if you ask.

The meat manager at my store discounts his meat at the end of the night. He's anal about rotation so he frequently discounts hamburger to 99 cents a lb (fresh ground stuff) as well as other things.

We discount dry goods if we end up with an entire pallet of something. As someone else said, you can get cereal cheap at times for a buck.

Policy is if the shelf price and the scanner dont agree, you get the item free- this should be company wide.

Sometimes we run specials, mostly in the winter months, that if you buy a certain product or group of products, you can get a piece of cookware cheap. The whole beef roasts and crockpot thing every year comes to mind. Not exactly a deal unless you're in the market for that particular product.
