Hi I'm new here. This site seems like a great wealth of knowledge and I'm hoping to save some $$.

I've seen that some of you buy your milk in bulk when it's on sale. I'm assuming you freeze it ? How do you defrost it when you want to use it without spoiling it? How long is milk good once it's froze?

That is a new one for me. Please explain. I know that milk goes bad after a while. Please tell how you are making it last.

My mom did it when I was grownin up and she just put it in the fridge to defrost. We never had to worrry about it going bad tho beacuse we went through a gal ever 1-2 days.

Same here. If we needed it a little sooner we'd leave it on the counter for around 4 hours (if it's frozen solid it won't hurt), and then put in the fridge to finnish thawing. We'd usually put it in the fridge overnight.

I do it all of the time. Our Kroger will have 1/2 gallons for 50cents or $1 if they are close to the sell by date. I take them home, pour off about a cup- into another container- then freeze them. When i need some I just take it out to thaw and use it. It seems to last longer after it has been frozen. By buying the 1/2 gallons we use it up faster so there is no waste.
